PROVINCIAL NEWS.
ROTORUA. Mr. and Mrs. Guy Belling, of Sydney, are on an extended visit to Rotorua, and are guests at Princes Gate. Lady Leys and Master Hilton Leys, of Auckland, are guests at the Grand Hotel while visiting Rotorua. Mrs. Benner, sen., of Union "Street, has returned from a holiday spent at Maketu. Miss Alice Law, of Auckland, is on a visit to Rotorua. Miss D. Mactier, of liaupapa Street, has left on a month's holiday to Auckland and the North. Mrs. (J. Hcwett, Miss Hewett and Messrs. B. and D. Hewett, of Cambridge, were visitors to Rotorua during the week. Mrs. J. Laurenson and Miss Naomi Laurenson, of auranga, are the guests of Archdeacon and Mrs. Chattel-ton, the Vicarage, Hinemoa Street. Miss Black has returned from an extended visit to Palmerston North. Mrs. J. M. Wilson and Mrs. Rainger, of Auckland, are visitors to Rotorua for the golf tournament. Miss Isobel Anderson, of Mount Eden, and Sister Muller, of the Auckland Hospital, 'motored through to Rotorua. They return home at the end of the week. Mrs. John Hellaby, of Auckland, has returned home from a holiday spent in Rotorua. Mrs. W. Dove, of Remjiera, is spending a holiday at Taupo. Mrs. B. S. Finn, of Auckland, is on a visit to Rotorua. The Misses Fraser, who have been on an extended visit to Rotorua, have returned to Wallington. Mrs. Graham, who has beeh staying in Rotorua, has returned to Hastings. • > Mrs. Williamson and Miss O'Hagen gave an enjoyable party at the Empire, in honour of Mjss Jessie Davies. Bowls of autumn tinted chrysantjie'mums and berries were attractive decorations. During the evening musical. items were given by Mrs. Cantrell, and monologues by Mr. Tom McCone. The guest of honour was presented with a handsome tea set by the Empire Hotel staff and friends. After supper, the evening was devoted to dancing.
TOKOROA. The Tokoroa' branch of the Women's Division of the Farmers' Union celebrated its second birthday on Wednesday, when over 60 members and friends were present at the hall. Afternoon tea was provided, and a birthday cake, with its two candles, made by Mrs. Graydon, and decorated and iced byt Mrs. was cut. Mrs. Sloper welcomed the visitors, who were present from Tirau and Putaruru. Prior to afternoon tea a short concert programme was rendered as follows: Banjo solo, Mrs. Nicholson; songs. Mesdames Gardner, Nicholson, Goodrick; recitation, Miss Colson; twoact play, "Keeping a Secret," by Mesdames Thompson, Carruthers, Cotton, Dewiss, Cadman, Peoples, and Miss Dyson. The accompaniments were played by Miss A. Sloper. Mrs. Baldwin and Mrs. Allen returned thanks, on behalf of Putaruru and Tirau members.
