MOUNT ALBERT WELFARE.

ASSOCIATION'S ACTIVITY. The annual meeting of the Mount Albert Welfare Committee, held in the borough council chamber last evening, was presided over by Mr. li. 11. Mercer. The committee reported that the first donation of £10 10/ came from the Mount Albert Borough Council. In June of last year a successful "drive" was held. This resulted in the collection by 30 cars of an assortment of clothing, boots and shoes and perishable goods." In addition £50 was subscribed. The Mayor, Mr. W. If. Stilwell, had obtained boots, men's clothing and blankets at half cost. Members of the committee had visited large numbers of homes and as the result of their inquiries parcels of food and clothing had been delivered. Baby clothing had been given in 6ome instances and arrangements made in other eases for mothers to be admitted to St. Helens Hospital. Special mention was made of the ladies of the Aroha League who gave seven tons qf coal. The committee distributed 200 sacks of coal and packed and forwarded 130 Christinas cheer parcels. The committee thanked Messrs. G. A. Coles and Company, and Messrs. J. Stormont and Sons, Ltd., for special donations. The balance-sheet showed that collections and donations amounted ,to £133. The sum of £100 had been handled by the committee in connection with the supply of boots and clothing from the Metropolitan Unemployment Belief Committee. The report and balance-sheet were adopted and all officers re-elected.
