WRITING DOWN CAPITAL.
A special accountancy committee, appointed by the Minister of Railways has recommended that the capital of Victoria's Government railways —£7",000,000 —be written down by approximately £30,000,000. Allowance for depreciation has not been adequate, and the Department is still carrying the cost of lines and works that are not now in operation.
