SILVER COINAGE.
TENDERS BY LOCAL FIRMS. WELLINGTON RECOMMENDATION. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. Favourable recommendations which are to be made to the committee set up to report upon the minting of silver coinage in TSTew Zealand will be supported by the Wellington Chamber of Commerce. The council of the chamber diecussed the recommendation made by the New Zealand Manufacturers' Federation that the Government call for tenders from local manufacturers. "We simply want the right for New Zealand manufacturers to tender," eaid the chairman, Mr. A. D. Kerr, and members generally concurred in this view. .Additional members of the committee appointed by the Government to assist in finalising the scheme for the is/sue of New Zealand coinage are Messrs. A. S. Burgese, of Wanganui, president of the Associated Chambers of Commerce; Mr. W. Simm, manager of the D.1.C., Wellington, representing retailers. The names of the other eix members wcr.e announced yesterday.
