CONSENT SCHOOLED.

PROSPECTS IN HURDLES. VIEW HALLOO VERY FIT. (From Our Own Correspondent.) WANGANUI. Tuesday. L. G. Morris arrived in Wanganui loet evening with Consent, High Falutin', Arena and Ida Merling. All four horse.-, are in great heart, and look ready to show of their best. Consent was schooled over the hurdles this morning in company with luvictus. He ran across in frout of his companion at the first obstacle, but from then on he jumped well and very fast. The Aero gelding was steadied at the back, but Invietus could not keep near him as he gained on the Hat as well as over the jumps. It looks as , if Consent will only need to clear the first obstacle or two on Thursday at all well to have a second to none chance in the Century Hurdles. One that may trouble the son of Acre is Ruanui, who jumped particularly well for a novice at Marton, and he may worry Consent, as he is said to be greatly improved since Marton.

Ganpat is not to be a runner in the Century Hurdles, and this will take some interest out of the contest, as the Lord Quex gelding promised to be very hard to beat. Ganpat is in great fettle, and may be a starter in the May Hurdles on Saturday. He is to be taken to Ellcrslie for the Great Northern meeting, and is likely to get into the money ou the second or third day. Having thrown off the effects of hie fall at Hawera Jen will probably be in good request for the Grandstand Steeples. He i« looking very well and solid. Jen has not done any jumping since the Hawera meeting, but he is a good fencer. Arisus bled a little after a eix-furlong gallop this morning, but it was nothing, serious. The Thespian gelding has boon going particularly well, and he is eurc to bo handy at the finish of the Empire Handicap, unless the last little bit finds him out. Reports from Fordcll credit View Halloo with being back to his best form, and if thin is the case what beats him should win the Empire Handicap. . 'i li going promises to be easy, as it is raining steadily to-day, and this will be in his favour. It hue been reported that Aga Khan is an unlikely starter in the Empire Handicap, but the chances arc he will "be a runner, as there are not wanting tiigns that he will be well backed on the day. High Falutin' has not yet taken kindly to the jumping game, and his riders have an anxious time with him when schooling. , However, if he takes it into hia head to jump right on Thursday he will make things interesting in the Century Hurdles, though those who back him will be taking a risk. No Humbug surprised track watchere this morning by keeping with Arisus and All Supreme' for six furlongs, the time registered being 1.16%. No Humbug is improving, and if she races up to her track form should be handy in her engagements. All Supremo a«d Arieue wero not doing their best, and both are likely to earn some money shortly. , All Supreme will be worth watching at Ellerslie next month if taken north. ,•.

L. G. Morris has both Ida Merling and Arena in. splendid fettle, and both fillies pleased by the way they galloped this morning. They should pick up some money in the near future. Ida Merling is in the Rata Hack, and Arena figurcu in the Borough Hack.
