CO-ORDINATED.

ROAD SERVICES AND RAIL LINK AT PAPAKURA. A decision of the No. 2 Licensing Authority yesterday afternoon gave effect to the representations that have been wado of lato in regard to the coordination of bus and rail services with a view to preventing overlapping. it affects the motor services between Waiuku and Auckland, and New Brighton and Auckland, via C'lcvedon. Applications for the. renewal of licenses for motor Eorvices from Waiuku were made by F. G. Parker and P. V. Flexhanij The chairman of the authority, Mr. J. A. C. Alluiu, in announcing the decision, said that the evidence on behalf of the Railway Department had satisfied ifc that the railway service from Papakura to Auckland was sufficient to meet the reasonable needs of the travelling public. It was satisfied, too, that one motor service was sufficient to handle the road passenger traffic between Auckland and Waiuku. However, it would have been prepared, in view of the fact that two services were running, to grant a license for a service, co-ordin-ated with the railway at Papakura, for each. That Parker would not accept, and accordingly his application was declined. Tho other applicant, Flexham, liad expressed willingness to make a trial of a service co-ordinated with the rail, his portion to be between Waiuku and Papakura by an amended route, and his application was granted on those conditions. Permission was granted him to run a through service on Saturdays and Sundays.

The license for the service between New Brighton and Auckland held by Mrs. A. Woodcock was renewed under the same conditions, the service to link with the rail at Papakura, and to bo allowed to continue right through to the city, as it originally did, on Saturday and Sundays only.
