MINISTERS' MOVEMENTS.

In continuation of his inspection of native land development schemes, the Hon. Sir Apirana. Ngafca, Minister of Native Affaire, arrived in Auckland from Kotorna last night, and left this morning for the Kaipara- district. Tho Minister will later visit the Whangaroa and Mangonui districts, returning to Auckland about May 28.

The Hon. Adam Hamilton, Minister of Employment, is expected back _in Auckland thie evening from his visit North. This morning he met deputations at Paparoa and Matakohc. In an interview before his departure, Mr. Hamilton said the area in Basaett's Estate was undoubtedly a wise choice for development, and a- great amount of development work had been accomplished in a short time. Provided the right men were chosen to occupy sections, they would no doubt become selfeupporting. From the point of view of unemployment relief, the 50-acre settlement scheme, of which Bassett'e Estate was an example, was rather ambitious, but from the aspect of land settlement the scheme was an excellent one.

On a subdivision such as Baseett's, the Minister said, there were no existing facilities, and the provision of these would entail heavy expense, whereae under the- ten-acre farm echeme generally men were set up on holdings in the districts already well established.

The Minister commented on the excellent drainage improvement work which was being done in the district under the camp scheme.
