LABOURER CHARGED.
KNIFE ALLEGEDLY USED. INTEREST IN YOUNG WOMAN. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) ASHBURTON, this day. P.olitM-f. Henry Mcaclcm, aged 21, labourcr, was to-day remanded till Friday on a charge of assaulting David Ilaniiiilll. who is 4S or 50 years of age, causing bodily harm. It is alleged that late on Saturday ni<?ht Meaulciu met Haminill on tlio street, and tliat an altercation finally took place, als,o that a knife was produced and several wounds inflicted. 'Hie wounde were not scrioue, but necessitated Hanimill spending a day or so in bed. It is understood that lleaclem, who is on probation, objected to attention being paid to a. young woman.
