FOOTBALL MISHAPS.
INCIDENTS AT WHANGARH. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) WIIAXGAREI, Monday. In attempting a, tackle in a senior Rugby game at Tarakao on Saturday, George Ruddall, aged 26, of: the Mangakahia team, was fended off by one of the Old Boys' backs, whose knuckles caught him in the eye. He was brought into Whangarei for medical attention, and afterwards seat to hospital, where it was found that He was suffering from hemorrhage of the eye. His condition is satisfactory. The Public Service Rugby juniors lost two of their players by injury on Saturday. Dobbs, who broke his nose early in the game, was finally compelled to go off, and Edge, who received a kick on the side of the head, was requested to do so by the referee. In view of past concussion cases, the union strictly enforces a rule that any player who receives a knock to the head ehall not continue playing.
