"UNITED FRONT."
MANUFACTURERS' ATTITUDE. The tariff commiesion -was mentioned at yesterday's meeting of the Auckland Manufacturers' Association, the chairman, Mr. J. A. C. Allum, stating that the manufacturers should get together with a view to presenting a united case, instead of appearing individually. He suggested that this should be done by croupe, such, for instance, as a combined case for boot manufacturers, with similar action in other industries. It would be unwise, he thought, for the association to engage in controversies, pitting one section againet another. All that was needed was a united front.
