MARKETING BOARD.
Commerce Association Votes
For Abolition.
MAJORITY INSUFFICIENT. (Received 10.30 a.m.) LONDON, April 28. , Prior to the Chambers of Commerce Association debating a resolution for the abolition of the Empire Marketing Board, the secretary, Sir Stephen Tallents, addressing the delegates, said: "The board's researches are Hearing a point at which chilled beef could be brought successfully from the Dominions." Supporters of the resolution urged the abolition of the board in the interests of the Home producer and of economy. The board's expenditure totalled £3,250,000, and the Dominions contributed nothing.
Sir Alan Anderson, opposing the resolution, said they should not grudge expenditure for research.
The resolution was carried, but the majority was insufficient to enable the council to take action.
