IMPROVING QUALITY.
MR. FORBES MEETS EXPERTS.

A number oE points connected witli wool export and improvement of quality were discussed by tlie Prime Ministei with wool experts and several prominent breeders on his visit to Massey Agricultural College at Palmerston -North. The main question was the.manner m which the value of the jNorth Island clip could bo increased both, by nn P r meiit in quality and by better methods of luarketing. . It was made quite clear during discussion that better organisation of the industry was necessary, and the g u " ments used appealed to the Prin.e Minister. Mr. Forbes felt that the tune had come when those engaged in the industry should take in hand measures for its own improvement. He assured those present of the Government's sympathetic* consideration of any proposals which might be put forward. Mr. Forbes said lie understood that the matter would be discussed further at a conference of sheep breeders and wool growers at Ma&sey College on May 23 and 24.
The Prime Minister also inspected experiments at the Dairy Research Institute 011 the production of butter suitable for the North of England market. Very encouraging results have been obtained 011 trial shipments during the past year.
