WALLA WALLA UNHOPPLED.
Extra interest attached to the President's I Unhoppled Handicap, one mile and a half, at Harold Park, Sydney, on Monday week last, on account of the fact that champion pacer Walla Walla was a starter. Starting off 180 yards behind, his task looked hopeless, even when the last lap was entered upon. In the last round he commenced to mow down the fielci, passing horse after horse. Rounding the turn within striking distance, he took command in the straight and beat Snorts Edition by a length and a half in 3.21. The previous rccord for the race (3.24) was put up by Gipsy Pronto at the previous meeting. Tnc unhoppled record for the Sydney tracks is Held by Sheik (2.20%), put up at Victoria Park. Walla Walla's must be gauged as a much better performance, as the Victoria Park nine-furlong track is acknowledged to bo much faster than the less than fourfurlong Harold Park course.' Walla Walla holds the hoppled rccord of the Harold Park track with 3.17.
