INDUSTRIAL AGREEMENTS.
CONCILIATION IN DUNEDIN.

DIJNEDIN, Friday.
At a sitting of a conciliation council yesterday before Mr. S. Ritchie, the commissioner, three complete agreements were reached.
The first dispute "was between manufacturing chemists : and the Dunedin Manufacturing Chemists' Union. It was agreed that wages for male, workers be £5 a week for qualified laboratory assistants and a qualified man. in - charge of a '.fill room, and • £4 for unqualified assistants, other workers to receive £3 12/ a. week. Wages';for-female workers were ■ fixed, as follow:—For - first * six months,. 15/; second six months, 17/ 6d; 'second year, £1 2/ 6d; third year, £1 5/; fourth year, £1 13/; thereafter, £1 15/, with the provisy that those at present receiving £1 17/ 6d shall not be reduced. Wages to be paid to youths under 21 years of age are:—For the first six months, 15/; second six months, 17/ 6d; second year, £1 2/ 6d; third year, £1 7/ 6d; fourth year, £1 15/; fifth year, £2 10/; thereafter the minimum wage prescribed for adult workers. Agreement was reached on all other points. In the hairdressers and tobacconists' dispute, it was agreed that the minimum rate for journeymen be £4 a week. Female workers' wages are as follow:—First year, 15/; second, 20/; third, 25/; fourth, 40/; fifth, CO/.
The journalists' dispute was settled on the following lines: —Seniors and generals, a reduction of 5 per cent in wages; juniors and cadets, further reduced. Provision is made for three weeks' annual holiday for seniors, others two weeks. Hours of work are to be 48 weekly. The agreement is for one year from May 27.
