THE ZOO.
Being a visitor to Auckland during the holidays and seeing the Zoo for the first time, I want to congratulate the officials on all that has been done there. It is a credit to Auckland and no doubt gives every satisfaction to all visitors. There is 1 one thing I noticed; many of the animals and birds seemed sluggish and eleepv and unwanted food was to be seen everywhere, showing that they are overfed. The meat and maize, etc., would be cleaned right up immediately by the eagles and other wild creatures if it was wanted. I know nothing whatever about this line at all, but imagine a good twenty-four or forty-eight hours' starve would do them no harm, and it would perhaps give all of them more life and energy. VISITOR.
