CHARGE DISMISSED.
A CONSTABLE'S HEARING. A restaurant keeper, Tony Bakalich, aged 41, for whom Mr. I. J. Goldstine appeared, was charged in the Police Court yesterday that on April 20 he used obscene language in Victoria Street. Accused pleaded not guilty. Constable Finch said that when 150 yards away from Bakalich in Victoria Street at 2.25 a.m. on April 20 he heard him using obscene language at the top of his voice. Bakalich denied it. He was then arrested. Bakalich, and a traveller, who was in his company, gave evidence that Bakalich did not use obscene language. The magistrate said it was extremely improbable that the constable could hear the language 150 yards away. The charge was dismissed.
