PRIVATE VIEW. There was a large attendance at the private view of tho Auckland Society of Arts in the gallery, Kitchener Street, last evening, when the annual exhibition was formally oj>ened by the Mayor, Mr. G. W. Hutchison. Upon the platform were Mrs. Hutchison, wearing winecoloured crinkle velvet with gold metal cape; Mrs. Campbell Duncan, black georgette; Mrs. E. B. Gunson, black crepe suede and diamante; and Miss I. G. Eisc, pale yellow taffeta and ring velvet coat. The decorations on the stage were a very artistic arrangement of rich old gold and golden brown flowers, with bronze drapery and massed palms and ferns,. The flowers were arranged by Miss Vaile, who also made an affective and very charming decoration in. the same colours on the supper tables in the lower room, where light .refreshments were served after the proceedings closed. Amongst those present were: Lady Sinclair Lockhart, in black lace; Lady Gunson, black with pale pink Oriental brocaded wrap; Mrs. Spicer, black georgette; Mrs. J. H. Jackson, black georgette; Mrs. Vigors, black georgette; Mrs. W. J. H. Thompson, black lace; Mrs. A. F. Wliyte, floral georgette and ruby velvet wrap; Mrs. McCosh Clark, black nraon, with pale emerald green decoration; Mrs. K. B. Robson, black georgette and fur wrap; Mrs. Lippencott, black georgette; Mrs. L. F. Thompson, black velvet and lace; Mrs. Alan Dignan, black taffeta, with mauve chenille short coat; Mrs. F. P. Worley, brown chenille; Mrs. D. Vallance Young, red ninon; Mrs. W. Glasgow, blue; Mrs- Sherwood, crimson satin; Mrs.' Nello Porter, pale beige lace; Mrs. Harrison Smith, navy blue; Mrs. J. H. Ansell, black ring velvet and embroidered net; Mrs. J. J. Sullivan, black and pink satin; Mrs. N. Whitcombe, black lace over pink; Mrs. Dixon, black and white; Mrs. Hudson, royal blue georgette and lace; Mrs. W. M. Rayner, black georgette; Mrs. D. Holderness, lime green ring velvet; Mrs. Sharood, red satin beaute; Mrs. J r Turwhite satin and white velvet coatee; Miss Ethel Scott, floral navy georgette; Miss Quayle, brown lame and Face; Miss Una Garland, black and red; Miss L. Reyburn, violet lace; Miss M. Zoeller, cinnamon satin and lace; Miss Teape, blue floral georgette; Miss Mabel Johnson, black and fur wrap; Miss Barr, broderie Anglais; Miss Thompson, pale green net; Miss Amy Dawson, pillar box red; Miss Anna Clements, blue and black; Miss A. Soutar, black lace; Miss A. M. Davies, yellow floral chiffon; Miss Wicks, blue and black and gold wrap; Miss Weeks, pale pink; Miss Ida Carey, old gold velvet; Miss H.
