SAVING TO BOROUGH.
NEW liTNIf NOMINATIONS,
The withdrawal of Councillor Piatt's nomination from the New Lynn Borough Council election, thereby saving the cost of a contest, was appreciatively referred to by the Mayor (Mr. Geo. Lawson) at last night's meeting. "Mr. Piatt's publicspirited action is in accord with his service to the borough during the past four years," said Mr. Lawson, "and will be appreciated by ratepayers who understand the difficulties of the council." Members concurred in these remarks. It was also decided to place on record the excellent service rendered to the borough by Messrs. S. James and Marshall Laing, two retiring councillors.
