MUNICIPAL BAND
It might be accepted that it was through your paper that the Mayor and councillors acquiesced in an appeal to hold a further concert by the Municipal Band in Victoria Park. This week a repetition of a former popular programme, was given by the band, and feel sure the sight then of the audience enjoying the music would have gladdened the hearts of those who sanctioned the concert. As one who claims to know, these concerts can be regarded as real events in the lives of many> many folk in this city, and when I express the sentiment that this is practically the only form of enjoyment that hundreds around her® know, I feel I am actually voicing their feelings. I dout)t if really more appreciative listeners can be found, and I would appef through you again to have the authorities place Victoria Park on the itinerary of conr certs for future seasons, and I am sure.*"® experiment would be an unbounded success. ALEX. W. REID.
