CHANG AND L'ALLEGRO

TROWBRIDGE GOES AMISS

. At Te Rapa this morning Chang and L'Allegro were sent half a mile, the former finishing in front in 47 2-ss. The first three furlongs took 36 l-ss. Trowbridge strained a b'gament in the near foreleg, and will not start at the Auckland meeting.

AT TAKANINI. REREATU AND GOLD POCKET. All fast work at Takanini this morning was carried out on the inside grass, which provided excellent going. The polos were out 12ft. Imperial Prince and' Principal were sent a mile, finishing together in 1.47. The two-year-old Gold Pocket was a length in front of Exaggeration, with Greek Gold a similar distance back, at the end of five furlongs run in 1.2. The firstnamed shaped pleasingly. Revelation was timed to run six furlongs in 1.18 4-5, and Sir Willonyx finished up his work on the plough by running three furlongs in 39 2-ss. Star Artist and Cherry King were on terms after "running five furlongs in 1.2 3-5, both going nicely. Rereatu, Foulwind and Royal Artist were sent six furlongs. Rereatu began very smartly, and led throughout, beating Foulwind by five lengths, with Royal Artist a similar distance away. Rereatu ran the distance in 1.14, Royal Artist taking 1.16 2-5. Kawini did strong work over a mile and a half, traversing the last mile in 1.56 2-5. Gay Sheila will not start in the Champagne Stakes, and Royal Artist is an unlikely starter in the Easter Handicap.
