GOVERNOR'S THREAT.

Coercing Legislature to Pass

Relief Laws.

MINNESOTA IMPASSE,

(Received 2 p.m.)

ST. PAUL (Minn.), April 12.

A threat to declare martial law and confiscate wealth unless the Legislature passes the relief legislation which is pending, was made pn Wednesday by Governor Floyd Olson, in addressing several hundred marchers in the capital.

Appearing on the Capitol steps, the Farmer-Labourite Governor attacked the Legislature, saying that bills which would provide relief were being held up. He told the relief marchers that ho was making his last appeal for action by the Legislature, which must adjourn on April 19.

Ho said that should the relief measures not be passed, he would declare martial law and bring in by the Provost Guard the people who were now fighting the legislation because they happen to possess considerable wealth.'

These persons, he said, would be obliged to give up more if martial law was declared, than they would under the pending legislation.
