ROWING.

INTER-'VAKSITY EIGHT.

KEEN RACE ANTICIPATED.

The annual eight-oar race of the interUniversity East tournament •will be rowed on Saturday afternoon over the tliree-mile harbour course from Koliimarama to a point off the Tamaki Drive just east of the tide deflector. The competing crews represent Auckland, Canterbury and Otago, and this will mark the first appearance of Otago in the contest. The Wellington colours wil l be missing, for the first time since the inter-Varsity race was introduced in 1927. Given fine weather and suitable water conditions a good race is anticipated. Prom the Tamaki Drive a splendid view of the contest can be gained, and no doubt many will take advantage of following the crews' fortunes either by car or launch. The draw for positions will be made just prior to starting time, fixed at 3.30 p.m. The officials appointed are:—Judges, Professor Algie, Messrs. H. W. Hudson, L. E. Brooker, A. M. Wilson; starter, E. 11. Buckler; umpire, C. H. Hunt; timekeeper, T. Marshall.
