SENIOR TEAMS CHOSEN.

COMRADES GIVEN PROMOTION

NEW LYNN TEAM RELEGATED.

The control board of the Auckland Football Association at its meeting last night had a most difficult and complicated task to decide on the entry of clubs to the senior grade. ; Twelve applications were received, the newcomers being Abels, Comrades, Tamaki and 'Marist, and those from last season, Y.M.C.A., Thistle, Ponsonby, North Shore, Onehunga, New Lynn and Glen Innes. Tramurewa Club did not apply for" re-entry, but the reorganised Tramways made application, to again enter -under the aegis of the transport service as formerly. * Prospective personnels of the various teams had been asked for from the clubs, but several clubs did not avail themselves of this opportunity. The merits of eax:h team were dealt with very fully, and it was decided that the Comrades Club team, which had thoroughly earned its promotion, having played together right through the grades from seventh up, . should be ranked in senior grade. The application of Tramways Club also proved successful. New Lynn, which was at the bottom of the senior table last season, failed to gain entry, and it was decided to ask this club, together with the other clubs which failed in their desire for "senior status, to forward their nominations of teams for other grades to the next meeting. The entries which were finally agreed upon were:—Y.M.C.A., Ponsonby, Thistle, Onehunga, North Shore, Glen Innes, Comrades and Tramways. .. , Mr. F. M. Ritchie, the association s delegate to the New Zealand Council, whose 25 years of service to the code was rewarded by his appointment as a vicepresident of the Dominion body, submitted a report on the business done at the annual meeting of the association at_ Wellington. He stated that it was the intention of the New Zealand Council to try to send a primary schools' representative team to Australia in August. This would include a boy from each of the provinces. With this end in view, Mr. H. Godber, manager of the New Zealand team to tour Australia next month, will endeavour to make the necessary arrangements. Applications for matches with an Auckland representative eleven were received from the "Navy and the*_ South Auckland Association. It was decided to play the Navy fixture at Blandford Park on Saturday. PRACTICE MATCHES. THISTLE TO PLAY ABELS. Team trials have been arranged between Thistle and Abels for Saturday on the Outer Domain. A second grade match will precede the meeting of the respective teams, while there will also be a third grade fixture at 1.30. BELMONT AND NORTH SHORE. » A largely-attended meeting of members of the North Shore and Belmont Association Football Clubs, held last night carried a resolution that, in the interests of Association football on the North Shore, the two clubs should amalgamate. It was decided that the new club should be named North Shore United and that teams should be entered in all grades. The following officeholders were appointed: —Patrons, Captain Meikle and Mr. W. R. Wilson; president, Dr. Bennett; secretary, Mr. J. Hotchkiss; treasurer, Mr. W. Morris; management committee, Messrs. Blenkorne, Chapman, Hoy, Horlock, Kay, Morris. Stevenson and Wynn, junior committee, Messrs. Adams, Crabb and Watson. NEW ZEALAND TEAM. The members of the New Zealand team to tour Australia next month will be presented by the New Zealand Councd with a blazer, black tie, grey trousers and a fern leaf emblem.
