AUCKLAND CITY CLUB,
A double 700 yds match was staged by the Auckland City Defence Club on Saturday at Penrose. Although the weather was line, conditions were made more difficult by a stiff easterly breeze that was subject to fairly sharp changes, while visibility was not easy. What is probably" a record for this range was made by F. Bowes, who made 95 out of a possible 100. P. C. Fahey shot with open sights and without sling, making 35 ; a creditable score under the circumstances. In the ten men aside teams match against Akarana, Auckland City team won by a narrow margin of five points (City 825, Akarana 820). Silver spoons were won by F. Bowes and A. G. Degenkolbe. The principal scores off the rifle were;— A Grade.—F. Bowes, 48, 47—95; G. G. Kelly, 42. 46—88; A. G. Robertson, 44, 42—86; J. Robieson, 41, 43—84; C. J. jr. Clark, 38, 42—80; A. J. Pieterson, 39, 41—80; H. Siiftmonds, 36, 42—78; J, A. Spry, 37, 38—75. B Grade. —A. G. Degenkolbe, 43, 41—84; S. Griffiths, 36, 39—75; H. G. Collingwood, 37, 36—73; J. SI. Jessop, 35, 30—65; R. Verrall, 33, 27—60; P. C. Fahey, i 7, 35— 52. As the fourth Auckland championship meeting is being held at Waihi next Saturday there will be no practice at Penrose.
