RUSSIAN IMPORTS.

LEAD BY BRITAIN

NEW ZEALAND WATCHING.

SIMILAR ACTION PROBABLE.

(3y Telegraph.—'Press Association.)

WELLINGTON, this day.

Questioned to-day as to whether the Government intended to take any action against Russian imports, the Prime Minister said no definite steps had yet been considered, but the Government was watching th© position most closely, and, in the event of the British Government deciding to take advantage of its power under the recent Act passed, New Zealand would no doubt take similar action.

Mr. Forbes said he did not tlrink it would be necessary to pass any new legislation to deal with the. situation, as the Government already had ample powers to restrict imports into the country.
