MAXIMUM TENDERS RECEIVED. (British Official Wireless.) (Received 12.30 p.m.) RUGBY, April 7. Tenders for a maximum of £45,000,000 2$ per cent conversion loan and Treasury bills were received to-day. Applicants for conversion loan at £94 3/ received 85 per cent of their requirements. The amount allotted was £8,220,000, There has been a sharp recovery of German bonds on the Stock Exchange. The prediction that the sun will be colder for the next two years, with the possibility that the earth will be affected in a way as yet unknown, was issued on Friday by Dr. Charles G. Abbot, secretary of the Smithsonian Institute. Dr. Abbot already has had some success as a predicter of suns and weather. In 1030 lie forecast two warm years which, in general, have been fulfilled.
