PUTARURU. The Farmers' Co-operative Auctioneering Co., Ltd., held a sale at Putaruru on Friday. There was an exceptionally heavy yarding of cattle, consisting mainly of fresh-conditioned and boner cows. Owing to the congestion at most of the works export buyers operated at prices slightly lower than at recent sales. There was a good yarding of sheep, and ruling rates were maintained. Prices were slightly easier for a big offering of pigs. Prices were: — Cattle. —Medium fat cows, £2 17/6 to £3 !)/; lighter fat cows and heifers, £2 5/ to £2 12/6; killable cows, £1 13/ to £2; 1/; heavy boner cows, 24/ to 30/; lighter boner cows, 11/ to 21/; heavy bulls, £3 5/ to £3 17/6; lighter bulls, 35/ to 55/; j springing heifers, £2 10/ to £4; dairy cows, 25/ to 50/. Sheep.—Fat lambs, 10/ to 10/11; killable lambs, 9/; good store lambs, 6/6 to 7/10; cull lambs, 4/6; forward-condjtioncd wethers, 11/6. Pigs.—Porkers, 22/ to 25/6; stores, 17/ to 20/; slips, 11/ to 14/; good weaners, 7/6 to 10/; smaller, 5/6 to 6/6; large white boars, £2 to £2 5/. POVERTY BAY.

At the Gisborne sale good quality beef cows brought 47/6 to 57/6; gcod vealers, 30/; Jersey steers, 60/ to 65/; Jersey cows, 17/6 to 37/6; heifers, 40/. i Fat Sheep.—There was a small improvement. Ewes. 4/11 to 5/10; wethers, heavy, 10/5; lighter, 8/9 to 9/1; lambs, 7/ to 8/5; two-tooth ewes, 7/9 to 9/; second grade ewes, 3/11 to 4/1. Stores.—An entry of 6200. The market was easier all round, particularly for lambs. Breeding ewes, sound mouth, 5/1; fairly good, 3/10; five and six-year, 4/7: up to five-year, good, 6/4; four, six, and eight-tooth, 7/4; four-tooths, fresh condition, 7/8 to 8/8; two-tooths, 7/6 to 9/6; empty ewes, fat and forward, 4/5; forward. 4/; lambs, best shorn, 7/3; best woolly, 6/ to 6/9; Downs, good, 6/9; wethers, fat and forward, 9/ to 9/7; fresh stores, 8/8; two-tooths, fat and forward, 8/.
