LETTERS WRONGLY USED.

The secretary of the New Zealand Society of Accountants, in the Police Court yesterday, before Mr. W. R. McKean, S.M., proceeded against S. F. Aston on a charge of using the initials "A.P.AN.Z.," not being a member of the New Zealand Society of. Accountants.

Mr. Bruce Elliott, who prosecuted for the society, produced an advertisement in which the initials appeared. Aston had not been an associate since 1927, when his subscription was discontinued.

Mr. Huband, who appeared for Aston, submitted that there was no evidence that the letters had been used in connection with Aston's business, and there was no evidence that the advertisement was sanctioned by him.

Mr. McKean: It appears that he has not been practising as an accountant, but as a tutor. On the face of it, the advertisement is inserted by A3 ton. Aston wan fined £4.
