FLOCK HOUSE.
PRIME MINISTER'S VISIT. GOVERNMENT AID WANTED. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) PALMERSTON N., Friday. The Prime Minister, the Right Hon, G. W. Forbes, made his first visit to Flock House to-day, when the trustees took the opportunity of impressing upon him the desirability of the Government giving financial assistance to carry on the institution for the purpose of training Dominion boys as farmers. The Flock House funds, subscribed for the benefit of sons of British seamen who participated in the Great War, is not available for helping New Zealanders. Last year the Government granted a subsidy for the year, 84 boys, sons of ex-servicemen, taking advantage of the opportunities offered. The Government help ends in four months' time. Mr. Forbes promised to give the matter consideration. The refusal of assistance will mean the closing of the institution. Mr. Forbes was also shown what Flock House was doing in the way of afforestation on the sea coast sand dunes, of which the Crown owns thousands of acres between Paekakariki and the Turakina River. The-Prime Minister was impressed with the possibility of using this waste land.
