THE NEW ZEALAND LEGION.

In your issue of March 29 Mr. John Lee, M.P., had a letter under the heading of "New Zealand Government." "We are witnessing," he wrote, "an effort to organise a party on military lines to give us 'that system of government best suited to our historical and geographical needs.'" His concluding quotation from a published report indicated that he was attacking the New Zealand Legion. He implied that the objective of this new organisation, which is progressing strongly throughout the Dominion, was "a New Zealand Kaisemm" and a' "Hitler system of Government." This assumption, evidently based on distorting rumour, is wholly contrary to fact. The purpose of. the New Zealand Legion is to organise all New Zealanders who have a real interest in their country's welfare into one great fellowship which will help to introduce a much-needed improvement in the present system of general and local government. The ideal is a thorough education of the people St) that they themselves will order the necessary constitutional action for their national welfare. MEMBER OF THE LEGION.
