Australian Governments to Rely On Themselves. COMMONWEALTH BANK'S HINT. MELBOURNE, February 5. The Commonwealth Bank Board . has advised the Loan Council, that it is prepared to advance £4,000,000 for public works but that future loans must be raised in the open market. The board emphasises that the bank is not prepared to deal with the financial situation piecemeal. The Governments, now that the emergency period has passed, must cease to rely on the bank for financial assistance.
