WAGE CUT EASED.
Indian Officials Restored Five Per Cent. TAXED ON RELIEF. (Received 9.30 a.m.) CALCUTTA, February 5. The drastic economies effected in 1931 haying restored budgetary equilibrium, the India Government announces that the emergency salaries cut of Government officials will be reduced from 10 to 5 per cent, but they will have to pay 25 per cent income tax surcharge from the saving from which they were hitherto exempt. CONGRESS ACTIVITY. GANDHI'S WIFE ARRESTED. CALCUTTA, February 5. Candhi's wife, Kasturbhai, and six other women were arrested in the village of Ras in the Bombay Presidency. They had attempted to hold a Congress demonstration. *
