CONTROL OF TROPHY.

VIEWS OF THE DONOR. EQUAL VOTING POWER. In view of the controversy over the control of the Sanders Cup by the newlyformed New Zealand Yachting Association, Mr. J. Hislop, representing Messrs. Walker and Hall, donors of the cup, stated this morning that provided Ithe same 14ft one-design class was adhered to by the new controlling body he could see no objection to the Sanders Cup being run in future under its jurisdiction. Auckland's stipulation for voting power on the basis of the number of yachts registered in each centre did not concern the question. There could only be one boat from each centre and naturally, said Mr. Hislop, all should have equal voting power. The new body might create more interest in this annual competition for the 14ft championship of the Dominion. . ANOTHER YACHTSMAN'S VIEW. " While it is only my own opinion," said Mr. W. A. Wilkinson, commodore of the 'J'amaki Yacht Club, and a delegate tp the Auckland Yacht and Motor Boat Association since its formation in 1916, " I hold that a central body, with one or two delegates from each centre taking part in the Sanders Cup contest, all on an equal footing, as they each represent one boat,, would be a welcome change from the present position to many keenly interested in this class in Auckland. The only condition that should be insisted on," said Mr. Wilkinson, "is that the contest be continued for the present type of boat and under the same conditions, which have proved reasonably good in the past 13 years, and represent a lot of hard work on the part of those interested, not only in Auckland, but at each of the centres that have competed so keenly each year. The matter of Auckland's supremacy "in the number of boats in the harbour is not questioned in the South, but in my opinion that is beside the matter of Dominion control of contests in which each centre is equally interested. I for one hope that the Sanders Cup will be run next year under this body, and feel sure that an Auckland boat will be on the starting line." #
