CLAY-BIRD SHOOTING.
POPULAR INNOVATION. There was a! fair attendance of shooters at Pakuranga on Saturday afternoon when a series of matches was held by the Auckland Gun Club. Skeet shooting, in which two traps are used off eight different angle marks, finishing with two simultaneous doubles from both traps, was tried out and, although extremely difficult, proved very popular. A ten-bird match was won 'by S. Roberts, who shot nine birds and had a handicap of one bird, making his total 10. W. H. Wilson (3) was second with. 9; E. J. Schofield (1), J. H. Gribble (2) and W. Gribble (2) tied for third with 8 each. A 16-t)ird skeet match for Mr. C. E. Hodge's trophy, all off scratch, was won by S. Roberts with 13, B. J. Schofield with 12 was second, and C. E. Hodge, L. Peterson and G. C. Bovill tied for third -with 11 each. A 10-bird match under ordinary conditions resulted in a tie between S. Roberts (15yds), H. Gage (13yds), I. Lomas (13 yds), E. J. Schofield (14yds), W. Gribble (12 yds)) and G. C. Bovill (11yds), with the possible. Thpy shot off, going back a yard each shot. Schofield arid Lomas missed the 11th bird, W.
