SATURDAY'S EVENTS.

GOV! SUITOR-GENERAL'S CUP. \ RICHMOND CLUB'S REGATTA. . The Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron held harbour races on Saturday over No. 1 course. The principal event was the race for Lord Bledisloe's Cup for the first class yachts, which was won by Winstone Bros. Nga Toa, with H. J. George's Victory a close second. „ _ _ The B, class competed for Fr. E. G. Winstone's trophy, which was won by Mr. R. J. Thompson's Waione, with Mr. M. D. Grayson's Windward only a few seconds behind on corrected time. The C class sailed for a trophy presented by Mr. R. F. Ward, which was won by Mr. M. K. Draffin's Kotuku, with Tatterstield Bros. Janet second. The race for the M class for the Wilson Cup was declared off and it will be competed for later in the season. LORD BLEDISLOE CUP. This race for the A class started at 2.30 p.m., the handicaps being :—Ariki, scr ; Nga Toa and lorangi, lm; Rawene, 9m; Moana, llm; Victory, 13m; Prize, 14m; Waitangi, 18m. The course was from off the King's wharf, round red buoy off Motuihi, and direct back to starting line. The wind was light from the N.N.E., whien gave a close haul to the buoy off Motuihi, .and a lead back to the finish. Earlier in the afternoon the wind was very light, but shortly before the start of the A class it freshened up and the eight big boats got away to a very good start, Nga Toa leading across the Qne by a few seconds from Moana, followed by lorangi,' Ariki, Prize, Victory, Waitangi and Rawene. On the close haul on port down the harbour Nga Toa drew ahead and led all the way, with lorangi second. As the fleet neared Brown's Island the wind headed them and all had to make two boards on the wind to fetch the mark. Nga Toa was first round, followed by Rawene, lorangi, Victory, Prize, Moana and Waitangi. For the run home spinnakers were set and lorangi regained second place. The finish was: Nga Toa, 5h 28m 465; lorangi, 5h 32m 245; Ariki, 5h 37m 355; Rawene, 5h 37m 435; Victory, 5h 41m 325; Moana, 5h 50m 295; Prize, Oh 53m 6s; Waitangi, 6h 8m Is. Result : Nga Toa 1, Victory 2, Rawene 3. Only 57s separated the first three boats on corrected time. B class.—This class started at 2.20 p.m., sailing the same course as the A class. The handicaps were; Waione, scr; Ladye Wilma, Little Jim, lm 30s ; Kotiri, 2m 30s; Windward, sm; Mahaki, 10m. Another good start saw Windward and Little Jim away together in the lead, with Waione Mahaki, Ladye Wilma and Kotiri in this order. Off Sandspit, Waione was in the lead, with Little Jim, Windward, Ladye Wilma, Kotiri and Mahaki in this order. Waione rounded the Motuihi mark in the lead, followed by Windward, Little Jim, Ladye Wilma, Kotiri and Mahaki. On the run back Waione increased her lead anil the finish was: Waione, 5h 30m 37s ; Windward, 5h 36m 265; Little Jim, 5h 40m 38s; Kotiri, 5h 50m 235; Mahaki, 5h 58m 31s. Result: Waione 1, Windward 2, Little Jim 3. One minute 11 seconds between first and second boats on corrected time. Ladye Wilma went about before actually crossing the finishing line and was not timed. C Class. —This race started at 2.10 p.m. over the same course as A and B classes. The handicaps were: Wairiki, scr; Kotaku, sm; Janet, 6m 30s; Gloriaua, llm. Kotuku was first away, followed by Wairiki, Gloriana and Janet. Kotuku, sailing well, led all the way with Wairiki second and Janet next. The old-timer Gloriana, with 6m off Kotuku, finished over 30m behind her. The finish was: Kotuku, 5h 38m ss; Wairiki, 5h 41m 425; Janet, 5h 43m 4s; Gloriana, 6h 9m 50s. Result: Kotuku 1, Janet 2, Wairiki 3. The officers for the day were: Messrs. J. C. Hewson, C. V. Connelly and Geo. Deery. The night cruising race for Admiral Blake's trophy will start next Friday at 7 o'clock, finishing at Kawau, where the squadron will hold three races on Saturday. In the first event the yachts will be steered by ladies, the prize being Mr. Ernest Davis' cup, starting at 9.30 a.m. In the afternoon a race will be held for Commodore J. H. Frater's prize, also a race for the M class. RICHMOND CRUISING CLUB. REGATTA OFF PONSONBY. The Richmond Cruising Club held its annual regatta on Saturday afternoon off Ponsonby wharf, the starting being from Mr. Jas. Donald's motor yacht Marion D., which acted as flagship for the day. The first race started .at 2.45 p.m., the others following at five minutes' intervals. The steady northerly wind gave the limit boats a good chance, but the racing was close throughout. Quite a lot of interest was taken In the race for the midgets, in which ten craft from.7ft to 12ft competed, all sailed by juniors, for a prize presented by Mr. W. J. Rawlinson. The races included events for the H class (26-footers), which was won by Omatere, with Celox second. The race for the 22footers (L class) was won by Matariki, with Valeria second. The V class, in which there were 10 starters, was won by Mystic, with Martha S. second. The S class (16-footers) was won by Klttiwake, with Aotea second. The Y class (14footers) by Val, with Jupiter second. The T and X class by Shalimar, with Phaola second, and the midgets by Sea Pearl. Results :— H Class —The finish was Omatere 4h 53m 21s, Celox 5h lm 10s. Spray broke her bobstay and retired. Result: Omatere 1, Celox 2. L and'N Class—The finish was Valeria oh 14m 19s, Matariki 5h 18m 16s, Mowai 5h 29m 555. Result: Matariki 1, Valeria 2, Mowai 3. V Class.—The finish was: Mystic 4h 50m 28s, Marianne 4h 52m 10s, Paroro 4h 56m 17s, Ranui 4h 56m 225, Martha S 4h 57m 445, Drone 4h 59m 3s, Avro 5h lm 295, Wild Wave 5h 2m 15s, Sea Crest 5h 14m 17s. Result: Mystic 1, Martha S. 2, Ranui 3, S Class.—The finish was: Sceptre 4h 39m 20s, Sea Sleigh 4h 41m 4s, Namu 4h 41m 295, Aotea 4h 43m 18s, Kittiwake 4h 47m 365, Bungaree 4h 48m 16s, Rangatira 4h ,48m 17s, Clio 4h 52m 335, Swiftsure 5h 10s. Result: Kittiwake 1, Aotea 2, Sceptre 3. Y Class.—The finish was: Demon 4h 46m 48, Opah 4h 50m 17s, Fay 4h 54m 28s, Val 4h 54m 225, Jupiter 4h 54m 345, Koala 4h 55m 41s, Kea 4h 57m 355, Stormy 4h 58m 58s, Sea Dawn 5h 2m 40s, What Nott 5h llm 9s. Result: Val 1, Jupiter 2, Opah^3. T and X Class.—The finish was: Shalimar 4h 52m, Aileen 5h 58s, SJiella 5h 2m 14s, Eleanor 5h 9m 375, Nyria 5h 10m 12s, Phaola 5h 13m 4s. The Point Chevalier Sailing Club held a general handicap at the week-end for a trophy presented .by Mr. H. Schmidt. Result: Belle 1, Maidle 2, Ngaro 3. ON THE MANUKAU. YACHT CLUB'S HARBOUR RACES. The Manukau Yacht Club held races on Saturday afternoon for yachts and for motor boats over the usual harbour course. Iri ! the yacht race the handicaps were given at the start. The starters were:— Phyllis, Phoebe. Miss Mac, Wild Wave, Mist Maid and Sybilla. Sybilla led at the completion of the first round, followed by. Mist Maid and Wild Wave. The wind was very light and the finish wasSybilla. 5h 35m 35s ; Mist Maid, 5h 46m 13s; Wild Wave, 5h 58m 495; Miss Mac, 6h 2m ss; Phoebe. Ch 5m 345. Result: Sybilla 1, Mist Maid 2, Wild Wave 3. Motor Boat Race.—Miss Ngaire, Shark and Jess started in this race, and the finish was:—Shark, 4h 25m 245, 1; Miss Ngair«, 4h 27m 58s, 2; Jess, 4h 35m, 3. RACE TO CORNWALLIS. The Manukau Cruising Club held a cruising race to Cornwallis on Saturday for club yachts. Charm was first away to a flying ! start, followed by Aomatea, . Maranui, lAtangatai, Sea King, Aoina, Lone Star. I Blaine and Ngahui. The wind was very light at the start, but freshened towards the finish. Result; Charm 1, Atangatai 2, Aoma 3.

BONA PLANS REVERTED TO. j INTERPROVINCIAIi CONTESTS. CHRISTCHURCH, Sunday. The plans known as the 1932 plans for Sanders Cup boats provided by the Auckland Association last year were rejected at a meeting of the Sanders Cup coherence yesterday and the 1923 Rona plans were reverted to. The following resolution was adopted: — "That all boats in the Sanders Cup contest must be built to the 1923 Rona Jellicoe design and must be measured with external steel moulds." In the 14ft championship race sailed on Saturday afternoon all the Sanders Cup boats, Avenger, Lavina, Idler and Avalon, competed, and also Betty (Wellington), Elfin, Huia, Colleen and Irene (Canterbury). The race was won by Irene by 20s from Betty. Idler (Auckland) was third and Avenger was on her stern close up. NORTHCOTE-BIRKENHEAD REGATTA. Entries close this evening at the Northcote Borough Chambers for the yacht and launch events of the Xorthcote and Birkenhead regatta, to be held next Saturday. MODEL YACHTS. REGATTA DAT FINALS. The finals of the model yacht events in connection with th£ Anniversary Regatta were sailed on the Orakel Basin yesterday under ideal weather conditions. The Orakel Model Yacht Club's triangular course of one mile was used for each event, and it gave a good test on all points of sailing. There were a number of visitors from the Manukau and Ponsonby Clubs, who were entertained to afternoon tea by (Mesdames A. and A. R. Bevins and G. Broun. The officers of the day were: — I Starter, Mr. A» R. Bevins; judge, Mr. G. Boun: timekeeper, Mr. W. A. Wilkinson. Mr. R. Murphy (P.Y.M.C.) and A. R. Bevins (0.8.Y.M.C.) were handicappers. Only a race for boys was sailed in the morning, there being no wind until 12.30 I p.m., but a steady breeze from the north | enabled all the events to be, decided during the afternoon. Results :— Boys' Race. —Sea Spray (B. Broun), 1; lorangi (G. Bevins), 2; Enterprise (K. McDonald), 3. 3ft Championship.—lorangi (G. Bevins), 3h 8m 12s, 1 ;• Peri (H. C. Pasadena and Demon fouled a mark and Restless carried away her boom just before the finish. The Orakei boats won the boys' race, the 3ft championship and the final of the general handicap. The Ponsonby boats won the 4ft championship and the consolation race. ORAKEI BASIN CLUB. This club's events held on Saturday resulted :—First race : Enterprise. K. McDonald, 1; lorangi, G. The Manukau Senior Model Yacht Club held its seventh series of races at Mill Beach on Saturday. The wind was light, and the finishes were late. Eighteen boats competed in the Jackson Cup, which was run oS in heats. Jackson Cup.—First heat; Hono 1, Margie 2, Tui 3. Second heat: Silver Bell 1, White Heather 2, lona 3. Final: Margie (L.
