M. McCARTEN DISQUALIFIED. A WIN FOR LAVINGTON. SYDNEY, February 5. The New Zealand-bred gelding Veilmond won the Flying Handicap, six furlongs, at Roseliill yesterday, but was disqualified owing to the jockey, M. McCarten, weighing in 71b light. McCarten was adjudged guilty of gross carelessness and was disqualified for two months, the race being awarded to Loch Garry. Veilmond is owned by Mr. E. Moss, of Sydney, and is trained by G. Price. The Roseliill Handicap of 150sovs added, one' mile and a quarter, resulted:-—Laving-ton (New Zealand), 7.6 (Simpson) 1; Nord, G. 7 (Parr), 2; New King, 7.13 (Sharpe), 3. Nine started. Head; three lengths. Time, 2.6. Lavington races in the colours of the former Trentham trainer, H. B. Lorigan, ancl is a four-year-old brown geldmg by Hunting Song from Heather Spray. KARAPOTI IN INDIA. WINS RAJPILLA GOLD CUP. CALCUTTA, February 5. Ivarnpoti. a New Zealand horse, won the Rajpilla Gold Cup at the Bombay races, covering a mile iri 1.36 4-5, which is l-5s behind the course record. Karapoti, before being sold to go to India, was raced in New Zealand, but mostly in Auckland. He is a bay gelding by General Latour—Kilbeggan, and was owned and raced here by Mr. M. 11. Tims. Karapoti was a brilliant horse and during his three-year-old career won a number of races, including the King's Plate, Great Northern Guineas and Great Northern St. Leger. 1
