IGNORED STOP SIGN.
LORRY DRIVER PROSECUTED
(By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.)
THAMES, this day.
At the Thames Police Court yesterday Paul Julian Paitrey was charged with failing to stop at the Seddon Street level "crossing, Waikino, where a compulsory stop sign is erected. The charge was the sequel to a collision between the Auckland-Tauranga express and defendant's lorry on November 11, when the lorry was badly smashed and the driver severely injured.
The police did not press for a heavy penalty, and defendant was. fined £1, the Bench taking into consideration, the heavy expenses he had incurred as a result of his injuries.
