NO ENTRY MADE.
SECOND-HAND DEALER CHARGED. A licensed second-hand dealer, William J. West, appeared on summons before Mr. W. R. McKean, S.M., in the Police Court this morning when he pleaded guilty to a charge of failing to make an entry in his second-hand dealers' ibook. Detective-Sergeant Martin said defendant had omitted to enter the particulars of a cycle which he had purchased. The cycle had been stolen. "I put the name and address of the seller on a piece of paper and forgot to enter it in the book afterwards," explained West. "Why did you not enter it in the book, it would have taken you no longer than to write it on a piece of paper?" asked the magistrate. West: I was doing a dirty job at the time, sir. lam very sorry. I have held a license for 10 years and have never offended before. Mr. McKean, in finding West £3 and costs, told him it would have been better to have made the entry and possibly a dirty mark on the book.
