MECHANIC'S ARREST. HELD ON CHARGE OF FRAUD. burglary investigated. As the result of Ills investigations connected with the reported tlieft of a I valuable model of an engine which had been invented to be run on fuel, Detective Hamilton arrested a young mechanic in the city this morning on an unusual charge. The suspect was charged that between November 8, 1032, and January 18, he obtained from C. S. Alcorn and W. McArthur, £15 10/ by falsely representing that he had constructed a model engine propelled by water as fuel. The burglary was stated to have occurred in the basemeni of a building in Shortland Street, the lock being forced off a door and the model stolen. Detective Hamilton has recovered the model and the policc state that they have every reason to believe that no burglary occurred at all. He will appear in the Police Court to-morrow morning.
