SEVERE SHAKE.

Earthquake Over Wide Area

In Western States. NO INJURIES REPORTED. (Received 1.30 p.m.) SAX FRANCISCO, December 21. A severe earthquake shook the West from Rawlins, Wyoming, to Long Beach, California, last night. The damage was confined to broken windows and crockery. The earthquake stopped clocks in most places. No injuries are reported.

The shock rocked the entire State of Nevada. At Gcrlach, Nevada, a large water tower was knocked down. At Reno, walls were sharply shaken. The California State Capitol at Sacramento creaked and rattled.

Riverview Observatory stated that quite a severe shock was recorded at 4.30, and waves came in for some hours afterwards.
