I; AUCKLAND ASSOCIATION. lANDERS CUP CHAIXEJf&ES. FURTHER TRIALS IN JANUARY. A full meeting of delegates to the Auckland Yacht and Motor Boat Association was. held last evening in the Squadron rooms. Mr. C. H. Palmer presiding. ■' The decision to challenge for the Sanders Cip was confirmed. Eight affiliated clubs notified their willingness to contribute towards the cost of sending a boat and crew to Lyttelton on February 1. The Canterbury Association reported that Auckland, Wellington, Otago, Southland and Stewart Island had sent challenges. Wellington's challenge was conditional on the contest being confined to boats built to the 1923 (Rona type) plans only. The fact that Sonthland and Stewart Island had both challenged was commented on, and the matter left to the Canterbury Association to decide. Mr. Palmer stated that as the challenge had come from -..Stewart Island in previous years he favoured its acceptance.

Correspondence was received from the Wellington Association on the question of the new plan which they took exception to on the grounds that the "fairing" was more than absolutely necessary. It was decided that as Auckland hud carried out the expressed wishes of the last Dominion conference in this matter it be left for the next conference to decide the question *f the fairness or otherwise of the new plan. The Sanders Cup selectors reported on the four rnces held, nnd stated thaJbvtwo trials would be held on Saturday, January 1, and one on January 9 if necessary,;.feo that the selection of the challenger could be made before January 10, by which date the boats had to be named. . .-.- The Canterbury Association notified that tt had handed over control of the Cornwell Cup contest to the Canterbury Yacht Club. This acTTon was endorsed by the 'Takapuna Club and approved. * ■ The chairman reviewed the steps taken to have the Manukau Yacht Club's entry, which had been sent in late, accepted for the Cornwell Cup contest, and he was thanked by Mr. A. A. Coates, on behalf of the Manukau Club, for his assistance. A letter from the Commissioner of Police 'was received in answer to the association's request for police protection against thefts from yachts and launches in St. Mary's Bay. The Commissioner stated that only three cases of theft bad been notified this :year from St. Mary's area. " The delegates present, representing throe clubs with boats moored in the vicinity of St. Mary's Bay, reported 24 cases of theft, and it was •decided to notify the Ccjinmissloner of these ■eases.

Mr. Palmer extended the season's greetings to the clubs' representatives. He was thanked for his valuable service to the sport during the past year, Mr. W. J. Beid, on behalf of members, wishing him ; e. pleasant Christinas cruise.
