WAIPOUA FOREST.
VISIT OF INSPECTION.
QUESTION OF MILLING TIMBER.
It was decided at a meeting of the Waipoua Forest Preservation Committee last evening to accept an invitation from the Mayor of Dargaville, Mr. F. A. Jones, and the northern county chairman, t> visit the Waipoua Forest and discuss on the spot the question of milling a quantity of dead timber and throwing open for settlement a small area deemed suitable for that purpose. The question of milling any of timber of the forest hae been keenly debated, and will be further discussed after the visit of inspection. The Auckland members of the committee intend to visit the forest in two parties early in January. The finalising of the arrangements were left in the hands of the secretary, Mr. N. R. W. Thomae.
