LEFT CHILDREN.
WHILE DRINKING IN TOWN. WOMAN GIVEN WARNING. A mother who left her two children with their grandmother while she went into the city drinking and associating with undesirables appeared before Mr. W. R. McKean, S.M., in the Police Court this morning on a vagrancy charge. Accused, who is 37 years of age, was represented by Mr.. Webb. She pleaded guilty. Detective-Sergeant McHugh said the woman was addicted to drink. As soon as her husband left for work she went off to town. She was certainly not as bad as some of her associates, but she was. drifting, and she had been brought before the Court to protect' her from herself. The woman leaned over the dock and cried bitterly while her counsel pleaded on her behalf. He suggested that a prohibition order would meet the case. The woman, whose name was ordered to be suppressed, was prohibited. She was ■ convicted on the vagrancy charge, and ordered to come up for sentence when called upon any time during the next twelve months. The magistrate warned her that she would be sentenced if she did not behave.
