CORINNE GRIFFITH.
IN "LILY CHRISTINE" AT CIVIC. In "Lily Christine," which will replace "This Sporting Age" and "Night Club Lady" at the Civic to-morrow, Miss Corinne Griffith, one of the screen's most popular stars during the silent era of films, makes her return, after two years, to the world's most mobile medium of entertainment. She is given the leading role in one of the most polished productions ever put out by film studios in Britain. The story of "Lily Christine" is by Michael Arlen, and reports to hand state that the direction of Paul Stein leaves nothing to be desired in the way of faithfulness and understanding in translating the story to the screen.
It is also said that Miss Griffith excels herself in the matter of dress, for which it will be remembered she had an especial gift. "Lily Christine" brings back to Britain the acting of Colin Clive, who recently made "Journey's End" and "Frankenstein" in Hollywood. He has the lead opposite Miss Griffith. Another famous actress is presented in an important role. This is Margaret Bannerman, well known on the Australasian stage. Anne Grey, Miles Mander and Jack Trevor complete the talented cast of players in the film.
