FEWER REGISTRATIONS.
NUMBERS ON THE DECLINE.

WELLINGTON, Wednesday.
The registrations of unemployed for the week ended November 26 totalled 60,311, according to a return issued by the Unemployment Board. This figure represents a reduction of 2660, compared with the registrations of a month previously. Appended is an analysis of the total number of men who were in one way or another a charge on the fund, the details from the return of October 29 being given for comparison purposes: — Xov. 26. No. 5 scheme .. 47,129 48,343 Farm schemes .. 10,057 11,251' Camps I,6SS 1,663 Roads 1,492 1,330 Afforestation .. 499 615 •Building 2,65t 2.133 Prospecting ... 255 270 Miscellaneous . . 162 160 Total unemployed 63,963 63,765 Unplaced 5,318 6,206 Total for relief . 69,311 71,971 Up to September the unemployment figures had risen steadily during the year, but in October a decline set in, the total recorded on October 20 'being 1625 fewer than at the end of the previous month. The total numbers shown since the present form of returns was adopted liave been:—September 2, 73,241; October 1, 73,500; October 29, 71,971; November 26, 69,311. The total reduction since October 1 is 4285.
