TO RAISE A SMILE.
(Sent in by Rona Backhurst, One Tree Hill Domain, Auckland.) Governess: You must forgive your little brother before you go ta bed. You might die in the'night. Tommy (reluctantly): Well, I forgive him' to-night, but if I don't die he had better jolly well look out in the morning. Billy, agef four, asked for a drum. "No, Billy/ , said mummie, "a drum is a noisy thing and would disturb'daddy." Billy's face fell, then he brightened and said, "Ah, mummie, do let me have a drum, and I will play it only when daddy goes to sleep." : ,
