AMERICANS IN VICTORIA. MELBOURNE, December 4. In a championship tennis tourney between the American stars and Australian players yesterday K. Gledhill (America) defeated R. Schlesinger (Victoria), 6— i, 2—6, 6—3, 6—lj Mrs. Van Ryn (America) defeated Miss K. Woodward (Victoria), 6—3, 6— i; H. E. Vines (America) defeated J. Clemenger (Victoria), 6—2, 7—9, 6—l, B—6. In the doubles W. Allison and J. Van Ryn (America) defeated J. B. Hawkes (Victoria) and S. Quist (South Australia), 3—6, 6—2, 6—4. Victoria beat South Australia in the inter-State contest, scoring 6 rubbers, 15 sets, 145 games to 6, IS and 133.
