FAST PASSAGE AMISS.

LEG TROUBLE DEVELOPS. HOPES OF SENDING HER TO AUCKLAND. (By Telegraph.—(Press Association.) ■ OHRISTOHUROH, this day. ' Fast Passage has teen givinjj her connections cause for anxiety during the last few days. She was responsible for a useful -,eeven.-furlonjr RaHop on Thursday, -Hut later in tha -week showed evidence of soreness in a foreleg. The trouble is in the suspensory ligament, and, though not eerious at present, it seems probable that her racing career is nearinjf a close. The idea of a spell -was discussed, but ruled out.

It has .been decided to ro on with her preparation for the Auckland Cup meeting, which will not involve a.great deal of galloping as ehe is very forward, and it ie hoped that she will get through her Ellerslie engagement without a breakdown. It eeems probable, however, that ehe "will no* last much longer.

RETURNING HOME. H. RAMA DUE TO-MORROW. The Ellerelie owner-trainer H. Rama, who took Manawhenua and Horowhenua to Australia some months ago, is due to return to Auckland with his horses by the Zealandia tomorrow. MORTGAGE ON ST. ANDREW'S. Arrow Lad seems to have a mortgage on the St. Andrew's Handicap at Feilding. He won the event in 1929, while Silvermine beat him the next year. He scored again la«t season and repeated the performance on Wednesday. L. J. Ellis has ridden him in the four races mentioned, and a further interesting fact is that High Falutin', who wee second to him on Wednesday, occupied a similar position to him last season. Arrow Lad had won the Jockey Club Handicap at Biccarton last season prior to winning the St. Andrew's Handicap, and his form was much better than it has hitherto been this geason, for he has started on half a dozen previous occasions.since returning to racing in October last without getting into the money. Probably that was why he was allowed to go ont fifth favourite. When right Arrow Lad ie a good sort over any distance up to a mile and a half, for he can eprint well, and last season won the Wair&rapa Cup, one mile and a quarter, and 4*lCaurawte-Cmtr one mflo .nd* half.
