DARGAVILLE MEETING.

THE CONCLUDING DAY.

ALLOY WINS CHIEF EVENT. The annual meeting of the Dargaville Racing Club was concluded at Dargaville on Saturday in fine weather, and there wae a larger attendance than on the opening day. The sum of £4015 was put through the machine, compared with £5260 10/ for the second day of the meeting in 1931—which was the last previous fixture held on this .course —a decrease of £1245 10/. This made a total for the two days of £6947, , against £9798 10/, a decrease of £2851 10/.

After the President's Handicap, the deputy stipendiary steward, Mr. R. G. Hosking, instituted an inquiry into the running. The judicial committee, after hearing the evidence of L. Clifford, rider of Thespis, A. G. Murray, rider of Bronze Tray, H. Gray, trainer of Theepis, M. Stack, trainer of Bronze Tray, and Mr. R. A. Powell, owner of Bronze Tray, expressed the opinion that Mr. Powell committed an error of judgment in allowing hie ihoree to etart, knowing that the horse was not in a. fit state to do justice to himself or the public. The committee was also of opinion that L. Clifford was not fit to ride in a race, and that his license should be reviewed by the Auckland District Committee under Rule 295, Part 11., of the Rules of Racing.

After the running of the Waihue Handicap, Mr. W. H. Maria, owner of Alloy, complained that the jockey on Radiant Sun, Tremaine, had struck Alloy over the head with his whip as Alloy was about to pass Eadiant Sim. The committee, after consideration, came to the conclusion that the occurrence was accidental, and the judge's placings were undisturbed.
