AUCKLAND ASSOCIATION. LOWER GRADE FIXTURES. McGIRR BENEFIT DISCUSSED. When the executive of the Auckland Cricket AsßOciation met last evening, Mr. Hugh Duncan, -representing the Parnell Club, handed over the ball with which H. G. Vivian secured 10 wickets for 23 runs in a recent match against Eden, requesting the chairman. Mr. E. E. Nalder, to make a presentation ' of same to Vivian at Eden Park on Saturday. The ball has a silver plate attached, suitably inscribed. The New Zealand Council notified that the annual meeting of the New Zealand Cricket Council would be held nest Saturday at Christchurch. The Wellington Cricket Association wrote asking if any members of the Auckland team to play Otago and Canterbury in the South would be available for the H. M. McGirr benefit game at the Basin Reserve on January, 6, 7 and 9. The letter stated that the Auckland Association's co-opera-tion would be appreciated in doing honour to a player (now coach at Nelson) who had rendered signal service to Dominion cricket. It was decided to reply that it would be impossible to say who would be available until the Auckland team had been selected. During the discussion on the above matter one of the Auckland selectors, Mr. H. Duncan, stated that the players for representative practice would be chosen on Friday. At Inst night's meeting of the Auckland City and Suburban Cricket Association It was decided to confer with the Auckland Cricket Association with a view to arranging another country week tourney, commencing on Boxing Day. The opinion was general that the success of last season's matches had made It desirable to have an annual tournament. Tho relative strength of several dubs In the third grade was discussed by delegates, and it was pointed out that better classification was necessary or the competition was threatened with extinction. Mr. T. Beanland, chairman, agreed that tho A and B sections required overhauling. Mr. E. Fawcctt suggested that a meeting bo called of all junior clubs which have so far not been consulted in the grading of teams. One delegate said prominent exsenior grade players were playing in the B section of the third grade. It was eventually decided, on the motion of Mr. A. Donald, to refer the question back to the draw committee for reconstruction and for a redraw of the fixtures. NAPIER STREET V. BELMONT. Ijist year's primary schools' cricket champions, Napier Street, proved far too good for Belmont, when the teams met at Victoria Park yesterday. The North Shore eleven were nil out for 34 (J. Jones 10). Matthews wns deadly with the ball, taking seven wickets. Napier Street replied with 104 (E. Flncham 30). Graham (three wickets) and Jones (two) were the most successful Belmont bowlers.
